Coaching philosophy
We’re all capable when we’re inspired and supported.
About
I’ve worked as a software engineer for a decade at high-growth tech companies ranging from 5 to 10,000 people. Teaching and writing have always been my passions, and I bring this wealth of experience and enthusiasm to my coaching practice.
—
I’ve written code and led projects at very early stage startups (Instabase employee #4, Retool employee ~#65—both unicorns), to mid-size (Pinterest, Stripe), and large (Meta) tech companies.
I’ve always made teaching and writing part of my job. Most recently:
I coached coworkers 1:1 to help them learn to code, and built coding curriculum for new hires.
I sourced, researched, and wrote a popular piece on incident response at Stripe and co-wrote two other technical blog posts for Retool.

Jess is a passionate giver. When I worked with Jess at Facebook back in 2014, she noticed that I was struggling with communicating my ideas and reached out to me to offer me help with my English writing skills, for free! I was shocked at her genuine desire to help, since we barely knew each other. It made me serious about improving my own skills. Over the course of the next few months, Jess worked with me on weekly writing assignments to fix my mistakes and improve my writing structure and word choices. I gained a lot of confidence and skills after working with her. The experience also gave me a push to keep investing in my English and communication skills in general.
Fast forward to now, I’ve published multiple technical blog posts for companies I've worked at, and I wouldn’t have gotten there without Jess’s initial help and encouragement years ago.
